Danny Wayne Thrailkille

December 18, 1955 — July 20, 2024

Danny Wayne Thrailkille, known to his friends as "Bird", passed away on July 20, 2024 in his home. He was a poet and an artist but mostly he was a true river rat. He was 68 years old.

Danny was born on December 18, 1955 in Orange, Texas, and was a graduate of the West Orange class of 1974. His childhood was spent on the water enjoying nature. As an adult, he traveled the world in the business of pipe-coating and inspection, but he was happiest when he could be on Lovely Island, Honnalee, or on the bank of his beloved Sabine River in his own backyard.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents William E. "Bill" and Helen (Hudson) Thrailkille, and brother William E. "Billy" Thrailkille, Jr. He is survived by his uncle Roger Hudson, children Sara Thrailkille Anderson, Katy Thrailkille, and Wesley Thrailkille, their mother Katherine (Payne) Thrailkille, nephews William N. "Billy" and Kelly Thrailkille, grandson Trey Anderson, and wife Carla (Deese Goodwin) Thrailkille. He was loved and will be missed by his children, and his many friends and family.

He will be laid to rest in Harris Cemetery in Orange, Texas with his family. A private ceremony and interment of his ashes will be held in October.

The Orange Boating Club will be hosting a celebration of life for Danny on August 10th, 2024 from 1pm til.

The family would like to thank Steve Maddox for his friendship to Danny in life and legacy.
