Roger Dale McCarty, 75, of Vidor, Texas, passed away surrounded by loved ones on October 29, 2024, at his home.
A Celebration of Life for Roger will be held at 12:00 to 6:00 p.m., Saturday, November 9, 2024, at his home.
Born in Louisiana, on March 23, 1949, he was the son of Albert McCarty and Eva McCarty (Kingrey). A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Roger's spirit enriched the lives of everyone he encountered. A man of vast talents and remarkable capabilities, Roger excelled in his career as a welder. It was not merely his skills that defined him; it was the warmth of his character and the depth of his kindness that left a mark on the hearts of his loved ones. He had a unique ability to connect with others, making each person feel valued and heard. Roger truly touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to cross his path. Roger's service in the United States Army during the Vietnam War marked a significant chapter of his life. As a proud Vietnam POW, he exhibited extraordinary courage and resilience, earning honors such as the Army Silver Star and the Purple Heart. His experiences shaped him into the man of strength and compassion that his family and friends cherished. As we remember Roger, we celebrate a life filled with love and extraordinary memories. His legacy will forever resonate, a testament to a life lived fully, with grace, strength, and love. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten, for the memories he created and the joy he brought into our lives will continue to inspire us all.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Eva McCarty; siblings, Linda Ethridge and Billy McCarty.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ruby McCarty; children, Atlanta McCarty and spouse Nathan Manuel, Roger McCarty, Trey McCarty, B.A. Scott McCarty and spouse Lexi, Patrick McCarty, Jon McCarty, Ashley Howard and spouse Shannon, and Aaron Snell and spouse Mary; dog, Toby; siblings, Karen Ford and husband Tony, Donna “Peanut” Miller, Pansy Leavins and husband James, and William “Will” McCarty and wife Alice; his very good friend, Derold Schackelford; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as other loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Cremation will be held under the direction of Simple Tributes in Orange.
