Common questions about simple cremation
What should I do when a death occurs?
Call Simple Tributes at (409) 242-1534. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We will walk you through what happens next, beginning with the transfer of your loved one into our care. You can also begin the paperwork online at any hour using Arrange Now.
What is included in the $1,095 simple cremation?
The $1,095 simple cremation covers the basic services of the funeral director, staff, and overhead ($345), the crematory fee ($325), and transfer of remains to the funeral home ($425). Urns, keepsakes, certified copies of the death certificate, and other optional items are priced separately and are shown to you as you complete Arrange Now, so there are no surprises.
Do you hold funeral or memorial services?
No. Simple Tributes provides simple cremation only. We do not hold funeral, memorial, or graveside services, and we do not offer live streaming. Families who would like a service are welcome to contact our partner, Claybar Funeral Home, which provides full funeral and memorial services throughout the Golden Triangle.
Can I make arrangements in advance?
Simple Tributes handles arrangements at the time of need. We do not offer pre-arrangement or prepaid plans. If you would like to plan ahead, please contact our partner, Claybar Funeral Home.
Where does the cremation take place?
Cremation is performed locally at Haven of Rest Crematory, which is owned and operated by our partner, Claybar Funeral Home, on the grounds of Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Your loved one is not transferred to Houston or to a distant third-party facility. Care stays local from the first call through the return of cremated remains.
How long does the cremation process take?
Timing depends on how quickly the required authorizations and permits can be completed, which varies from family to family. Once your loved one is in our care we will give you a realistic timeframe and keep you updated at each step.
How many death certificates do I need?
We generally recommend obtaining at least 10-15 certified copies. You will need them for insurance claims, bank accounts, real estate transfers, vehicle titles, and other legal matters. We can help you determine the right number based on your situation.
How do I choose an urn or keepsake?
Urns, keepsakes, and stationery are shown as optional selections inside Arrange Now, so you can see the choices in context with your cremation plan. You can also call (409) 242-1534 with questions. Merchandise is always optional, and our General Price List is available on request.
Can I complete everything online?
Yes. Arrange Now lets you complete the required authorizations and forms, review optional merchandise, and save your progress so you can come back later. Nothing is final until you decide, and you can call us at any point if you would rather talk it through.
Can flowers be sent?
Yes. Sympathy flowers can be ordered through Blooms by Trendz Floral at 130 Strickland in Orange. Call (409) 697-1500, or use the Send Flowers link on any obituary on this site.
