Sylvia Bernadette Scott

Sylvia Bernadette Scott, a loving, outspoken, and selfless soul, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026, in Orange, Texas. She was born on March 29, 1950, in Crowley, Louisiana.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Sylvia was known for her boundless love and her remarkable ability to "take care of everybody." She found immense joy and fulfillment in her work as a dedicated care provider. Her passions included playing bingo and creating beautiful diamond art paintings, a craft she shared generously, ensuring that everyone she knew had a cherished piece of her artwork. Sylvia adored her family. Her grandchildren meant the world to her, but her great-grandchildren meant more than the world. She would light up every chance they had to be together, and she looked forward to every opportunity to go cook for her grandson, Cameron, and his family. Her favorite times were spent with family, going to the lake with them and she also treasured the delightful memories made during her cruises with her daughters, Lucinda and Tabitha, granddaughter, Emma, and friend, Emily Thomas.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, survived by her devoted daughters, Lucinda Yust and her husband Freddy, and Tabitha Yust and her husband Marty Dunaway. Sylvia was a proud grandmother to her grandsons, Dennis West and his partner Den, Cameron West and his wife Shelby, Cody Dunaway, John Wilson and Freddy Yust III; her granddaughters, Chelsie Harms and her husband Jeff, Molly Yust, Hollie Bufford, Misty Mae Kirbow, and Kelly Ital; and her great-grandchildren, Emma West, Ryleigh West, Reagan West, Oliver Harms, Grayson Harms, Michael Faulk, and Harvey Faulk. She is also survived by her brothers, Emile Abshire and Curtis Abshire; her sister, Cynthia Hollie; her special friends, Kathy Switzer, Gail Langton, T Roberts, and Emily Thomas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family and friends.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Louis Scott; her cherished son, Jeffrey Powell; her parents, Denis and Mary Katherine Abshire; her brothers, Denis Abshire and Bryon Abshire; her sisters, Deborah Abshire, Mary Abshire, and Joanne Abshire; and her great-niece, Elizabeth.

Sylvia's warm presence, generous spirit, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
